DRYHURST + STUART ARCHITECTS is a design conscious practice committed to an architecture that is contemporary, durable and stimulating, which respects both its context and the environment. Formed in 1998, initially as Artifice Design, then DHS Architects until 2010, D+SA has developed a diverse and expansive portfolio of successfully completed projects, which reflect the design flair and breadth of expertise of Ed & Louise.
Our aim is to work with our clients to achieve a design of outstanding architectural quality, which exceeds the client’s expectations whilst maintaining strict adherence to the budget.
Ed is a very experienced architect with a proven broad range of expertise in residential, retail, commercial, mixed-use and institutional architecture. He was a founding partner of the successful Gold Coast practice, DHS (Dryhurst Halstead Stuart) Architects, which he headed for 12 years up to its split in 2010. Prior to that Ed was an Associate at Cummings & Burns following experience gained in several architectural firms both in Australia and the UK.
Ed specializes in architectural design, feasibility, planning and urban design and has a passion to achieve an architecture which responds equally to the requirements of the client, respect for the environment and context of the site.
Louise specializes in architectural and interior design and is passionate about the fine detail and the realization of a project. Louise is also responsible for the interior design side of the practice because of her talent with colour, light and texture.
Ed’s life and business partner for 20 years, Louise was educated at University of New South Wales - Sydney, and worked for Travis Partners in Sydney and practices in Brisbane and the Gold Coast before the formation of D+SA (formerly DHS).
